Today, Somaliland stands at a perilous, critical crossroads. A relentless storm of social media poison is sweeping through our nation—a calculated campaign of noise, hysteria, and tribal division designed to rupture our hard-won peace.
But what makes this threat so terrifyingly dangerous is not just the external adversaries pulling the strings. It is the shameful, criminal silence of our intellectual elite and the total, unpardonable paralysis of our government.
While our nation’s true enemies weaponize digital platforms to pit clan against clan, the state stands by as a passive spectator.
The government is watching. The intellectuals are watching. And in that cowardly vacuum, the microphone has been handed to the most destructive actors in our society.
Look at who is driving the narrative today: self-appointed traditional leaders, opportunistic poets, clout-chasing singers, and digital agitators. These are individuals who have manufactured titles and positions out of thin air, leveraging their fame to spread chaos, tribal chauvinism, and confusion.
They have transformed sacred cultural authority into an engine of division. Worse still, for the first time in the history of this republic, we are witnessing an unprecedented treason: individuals residing comfortably inside Somaliland, holding Somaliland citizenship, openly campaigning for and declaring allegiance to Somalia—our number-one existential adversary.
Political analysts see the reality clearly. The enemies of Somaliland, deeply rattled by our historic diplomatic breakthroughs—most notably our recognition by Israel and our rising geopolitical stature along the Red Sea—have bought off local proxies. Unable to defeat us on the battlefield, our enemies are paying traditional leaders and cultural figures to seed civil strife from within.
They are using our own people to dismantle our national sovereignty block by block.
And where is the state? Where are the laws? Where is the decisive hand of a government sworn to protect the republic? Why is the state allowing mercenary influencers and rogue elders to tear down national security on TikTok and Facebook without facing immediate, unrelenting justice?

Somaliland does not lack talent. Following our recognition by Israel, the door has swung wide open for transformation. Our vast population is overflowing with raw human potential—youth who could become the world-class engineers, doctors, scientific researchers, entrepreneurs, and incorruptible public leaders of tomorrow.
But potential without defense is a tragedy. To turn this historic momentum into real national power, Somaliland desperately needs modern schools, robust healthcare, cutting-edge universities, transparent institutions, and a thriving innovation economy.
We cannot build a modern powerhouse on the rotten foundation of clan warfare. We cannot build a nation when the state refuses to govern and the elite refuses to speak.
