In a groundbreaking move to enhance digital safety, TikTok’s collaboration with Nairobi-based Eveminet Communications Solutions Limited has sparked a revolution in Kenya. Since October 2023, their digital safety training has empowered a staggering 116,000 Kenyans, marking a monumental stride towards creating a safer online environment.
Fortune Mgwili-Sibanda, the visionary director of government and public policy for Sub-Saharan Africa at TikTok, revealed that the training sessions have ignited enthusiasm among participants spanning across 21 of Kenya’s 47 counties. Through hybrid sessions, learners, parents, and educators have been equipped with vital digital safety knowledge, fostering a sense of empowerment within their communities.
“Our commitment to safety in Kenya knows no bounds. From April to September 2024, our mission is to extend our reach to the remaining 26 counties, ensuring that every corner of the nation has access to essential digital safety education,” stated Mgwili-Sibanda in a groundbreaking announcement made from Nairobi, the vibrant capital of Kenya.
