US Forces Neutralize Over 80 Drones and Missiles from Iran, Yemen Targeting Israel, Says CENTCOM

In a recent statement, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) revealed that American forces, with support from US European Command destroyers, successfully intercepted and destroyed more than 80 one-way attack drones and at least six ballistic missiles aimed at Israel. The operation took place over the weekend, spanning Saturday and Sunday.

According to CENTCOM, the interception efforts included thwarting a ballistic missile on its launcher vehicle and disabling seven unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) before they could be launched. These preemptive measures were taken in regions controlled by Iran-backed Houthis in Yemen.

The targeted strikes originated from Iran and Yemen, with Iran allegedly launching the attack as a retaliation for a suspected Israeli strike near its embassy compound in Syria on April 1. The strike resulted in the death of high-ranking Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps commanders.

Despite the scale of the attack, which involved more than 300 missiles and drones primarily launched from inside Iran, Israel’s Iron Dome defense system, supported by the United States, Britain, France, and Jordan, successfully intercepted most of the incoming threats. Consequently, the damage inflicted by the attack was limited to modest levels.

In response to the hostile actions by Iran, CENTCOM reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Israel’s defense against such threats. The US military remains vigilant and prepared to collaborate with regional partners to enhance security in the area.
