World Bank Delegation Visits Somaliland for Business Discussions

Somaliland’s Ministry of Finance engages with World Bank delegation to enhance public resources management and solidify future cooperation.

A delegation from the World Bank, headed by Mrs. MAY, the Project Task Team Leader, arrived in Somaliland for a business trip focused on the Somaliland Enhancing Public Resources Management (SERP) project. The meeting was hosted by key figures from the Ministry of Finance, including the Minister of Finance, the Minister of State for the Ministry of Finance, the Director General, and the Coordinator of the SERP project.

The discussions centered around the Ministry of Finance’s upcoming Five-Year Strategic Plan for 2024-2028 and its Annual Action Plan, both of which emphasize the goal of fostering Action and Progress. The officials also underscored the importance of aligning the activities of the SERP project with the principles of Public Finance Management Reform and enhancing cooperation between Somaliland and the World Bank.

During the visit, the World Bank delegation pledged to fully support the Ministry’s efforts, offering all necessary privileges to facilitate successful implementation of the SERP project. Additional meetings over the next few days will focus on reviewing the project’s progress and discussing the involvement of other government agencies integral to the SERP initiative.

This collaboration aims to strengthen Somaliland’s public financial management systems and further solidify its relationship with the World Bank, ensuring sustainable development and effective use of resources in the coming years.
