Somaliland Vice President Launches Critical Training to Strengthen Government Accountability and Combat Corruption.
The Vice President of the Republic of Somaliland, Mohamed Ali Aw Abdi, inaugurated a pivotal training session today for Directors General and Directors of Administration and Finance Departments across government ministries. Organized by the Office of the Auditor General, the workshop aims to enhance collaboration between ministries and the Auditor General’s office, focusing on improving systems of accountability, transparency, and government audits.

In his opening remarks, Vice President Mohamed Ali Aw Abdi emphasized the vital role that Directors General play as the backbone of Somaliland’s ministries. He reaffirmed the government’s unwavering commitment to eradicating corruption and administrative mismanagement, a pledge made solemnly alongside President Abdirahman Mohamed Abdullahi (Irro) on the Holy Quran.
“This training is not just about procedure; it is about our national duty. The President and I have sworn to fight corruption seriously. Let this be clear now: anyone involved in corruption or mismanagement will face justice,” warned the Vice President.
He delivered a firm message to ministry leaders, holding them personally responsible for their service to the nation: “You will be held strictly accountable for your work and decisions. This is a mandate to protect the integrity of Somaliland’s government and serve our people with honesty and efficiency.”
The training is expected to reinforce internal controls and promote a culture of integrity, crucial for Somaliland’s continued progress and good governance. It signals a bold step by the government to institutionalize anti-corruption efforts and ensure ministries operate with maximum efficiency and transparency.
This initiative reflects Somaliland’s strategic focus on building strong, accountable institutions as part of its broader agenda for sustainable development and international recognition.
